Introduction.
Orchids are some of the most beautiful plants to be found in the countryside in the area covered and are sometimes seen in surprising quantities. I have so far found over twenty different species and subspecies in sites ranging from the high mountain tops, down through the Limestone pavements and hill side scrubs, to the lowland woods and stream sides. Some species are found as individual plants and others can literally change the colour of a road side bank with their bright blooms.
